It's Keegan's World, we're Just Living In It: A Salary Cap League Mock Draft

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Well... It's pretty much 3 people dominating the first 2 rounds of the draft so like Leonard Cohen said, "The poor stay poor, the rich get rich." I guess that's how this goes, but no one really knows.

1.1 - Joe Burrow, QB LSU
Beer Can Alley FC
A cheap controllable asset for a team that is in need of strong pillars to build around. The potential to have a team option additional year added to the rookie deal makes this a pick Kyle has to make. It's almost a guaranteed lock that Joe Burreaux is headed to Cincinnati where he should immediately become the starter in an offensive system designed to simplify things for the QB. The locker room is also chock full of playmakers even if they end up losing AJ Green in Free Agency.

1.2 - Tua Tagovailoa, QB Alabama
Keg Stand
I know there are three valid QBs already on the roster (I'm combining Alex Smith and Haskins) but taking Tua would allow Keegan to cheaply stockpile talented gunslingers and hedge his bets on one of them hitting the big time. I think Tua will end up in Miami or LA but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a team like New England package some picks and players to move up and grab him as the heir apparent (especially if his medicals come back sketchy at the combine).

1.3 - D'Andre Swift, RB Georgia
Name TBD
Two QBs taken off the top leave the best weapons available for Greg to scoop up. The wide receiving corps is pretty stacked which leaves the top RB free for the taking. I'm sure this pick will have some fluidity depending on what teams invest draft capital into the ball carriers, but it's no secret that draft gurus feel D'Andre Swift is the best of the bunch. Outside of Derrick Henry, it's a definite area of need for the TBDers.

1.4 - Jerry Jeudy, WR Alabama
Average Joe's
Depending on what happens in Las Vegas, Joey made need to look at QB with this pick. Not knowing the future, he will look to take the best player available off the board and that's Jerry Jeudy. He's a better WR than Amari Cooper was coming out of college and no matter where he ends up, Jeudy's talents will shine. It's pretty much a no-brainer selection by the Average Joe's.

1.5 - CeeDee Lamb, WR Oklahoma

Keg Stand
This pick depends a lot on where Lamb lands, but my feeling is that it will be in the desert where we can pick up where he left off with Kyler Murray. Yes, there are plenty of pass catchers in Phoenix, but Lamb would offer Coach Kliff the perfect tool to fully execute his air raid system. Lamb might have a slow start but would eventually replace Fitzgerald and complement/supplant Christian Kirk.

1.6 - Jonathan Taylor, RB Wisconsin

Average Joe's
Another best available pick by the Joe's. Taylor is an extremely talented RB, but workhorse backs from Wisconsin don't have the best track records in the NFL. Yes, Melvin Gordon has had a decent start to his career, but this last season was an eye-opener when Austin Ekeler proved to be the better option. One could argue that Wisky RBs are better served in a complementary fashion (i/e James White or Corey Clement). Despite that history, Taylor is going to find himself in a position to get carries and score points which is why he's necessary with this pick.

1.7- Tee Higgins, WR Clemson
Ole's Team
I'm sure Ole's wondering what his team would be like if he could start all three of those QBs. Tee Higgins' size and speed combination is going to push him up drafts and land him on a team where he can contribute. I just mentioned Wisconsin RB history as a negative implication, but when you think about Clemson WR history it's the exact opposite. Just go look up the recent pass catchers from Dabo's Tigers. I think Higgins could end up with a rookie season similar to AJ Brown or DK Metcalf.

1.8 - Laviska Shenault Jr., WR Colorado
Keg Stand
If you watch as much PAC-12 football as I do or maybe just listen to draft podcasts, you know this name. Shenault was the only star on a Colorado squad that struggled mightily this past season. He'll probably be a late Day 1 or early Day 2 pick in the draft but he will push for work at some point in the season.

1.9 - J. K. Dobbins, RB Ohio State
Keg Stand
By taking Lamb and Shenault earlier, Keegan can start looking at the best available bin and that is probably going to be Dobbins (unless Seattle takes him early in the 2nd). Dobbins just feels more proven than the other guys on the list, but obviously where players are drafted will determine these selections.

1.10 - Justin Herbert, QB Oregon

Name TBD
This is a middle finger pick. Snatching a player just ahead of the team that wants/needs him more. It's not just a spite pick though as Greg would have a pretty solid trio of Wentz, Murray and Herbert. If Herbert lands in LA, which seems likely, he would have some good talent to throw to especially if they franchise tag or re-sign Hunter Henry. Herbert is just the best value pick here when you consider the 1st round team option for the final year of the contract.

1.11 - Henry Ruggs III, WR Alabama

Snob Hill FC
It seems to early to use this pick on a RB or QB who may or may not pan out, so go back to the best available bin and you'll find Ruggs. He may be the fastest player in college football and depending on what team selects him, could vault up the rookie predraft rankings. This would be a tremendous value pick. Chris could address the QB roster depth in Free Agency rather than reaching.

1.12 - Jordan Love, QB Utah State
Rugby With Pads
This pick depends entirely on where Love ends up in the draft and I'm going with the draft gurus and their wisdom in believing that he will be a Colt. I think Thomas will look to find a potential franchise QB and utilize the team option should Love catch fire.

2.1 - Michael Pittman, WR USC
Average Joe's
Why not? I'm sure he'll land in a good spot and produce at a high level.

2.2  - Zack Moss, RB Utah
Keg Stand
Now it's time for Running Back Roulette. Just pick em up and see who sticks!

2.3 - Justin Jefferson, WR LSU
Keg Stand
I mean, who could pass up a LSU pass catcher?

2.4 - Cam Akers, RB FSU
Keg Stand
Hmm, maybe this one will work out.

2.5 - Brycen Hopkins, TE Purdue
Average Joe's
You know who can't help themselves with Tight Ends? Joey. Hopkins could be a force if he lands in the right place.

2.6 - Jalen Hurts, QB Oklahoma
Ball Fondlers
2018 season, I had both Fitzmagic and Tannehill on my roster. Could've used some of that QB depth.

2.7 - Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB LSU
Ole's Team
I could see the hyphen landing somewhere in a scatback role and contributing like Tarik Cohen did his rookie season.

2.8 - Jake Fromm, QB Georgia
Average Joe's
I see Fromm ending up like Drew Lock and sitting behind a veteran for more than half a season, but again, we won't know until draft day.

2.9 - Cole Kmet, TE Notre Dame
Keg Stand
Fighting Irish TEs have a pretty good track record in the NFL and Kmet is mentioned frequently on Kiper and McShay's podcast so you know Keegan will take note.

2.10 - Jacob Eason, QB Washington
Keg Stand
I can see Eason getting drafted by the Bears or Lions as a potential replacement for the current starter. He's got the strongest arm in the draft and can make all the NFL throws, but is still a bit raw in his progressions and decision making.

2.11 - Anthony McFarland Jr., Maryland
Rugby With Pads
Just watch this https://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=401012878

2.12 - Harrison Bryant, TE Florida Atlantic
Rugby With Pads
It's becoming a TE centric league and Bryant was named the nation's best in CFB last year.
